E-Mail Reflectors:

The club maintains several E-Mail reflectors hosted by googlegroups.com that are used to disseminate various types of information. Most of the reflectors are restricted to current members of the club, and a few are restricted to the various committees within the club. The following is a list of the current reflectors:

K1JMRCHAT - This is an unmoderated reflector. As the name implies, it is a chat type of message base that can be used to post any type of message. All members with E-Mail addresses are automatically subscribed to this reflector. You can change your subscription options, and even unsubscribe from this reflector simply by accessing www.googlegroups.com and selecting the K1JMRCHAT reflector.

K1JMR - This is a moderated reflector that is used by the E-Board to notify members of important happenings within the club. Any message sent to this reflector must be approved by an E-Board member before the message is sent out. All members with E-Mail addresses are automatically subscribed to this reflector. You can change your subscription options, and even unsubscribe from this reflector simply by accessing www.googlegroups.com and selecting the K1JMR reflector.

K1JMR_NEWSCARRIER - This is a moderated reflector used by the E-Board to send electronic versions of the NewsCarrier to our members. There are some non-members that are subscribed to this group; For instance, some ARRL staff, and some former members that have moved out of the area. Any message sent to this reflector must be approved by an E-Board member before the message is sent out. All members with E-Mail addresses are automatically subscribed to this reflector. You can change your subscription options, and even unsubscribe from this reflector simply by accessing www.googlegroups.com and selecting the K1JMR_NEWSCARRIER reflector.

NARCEBOARD - This is a restricted, unmoderated reflector that is used by members of the Executive Board to communicate ideas, and status of projects they are working on. All members of the Executive Board with E-Mail addresses are automatically subscribed to this reflector. You can change your subscription options, and even unsubscribe from this reflector simply by accessing www.googlegroups.com and selecting the NARCEBOARD reflector.

World Wide Web:

The club maintains a public web site at http://www.norwood-arc.org. All members are encouraged to provide information and feedback on the content of the site. We also have a private members web site that is accessed via a link from our public site. All members in good standing are provided access to the members only site. The club webmaster will provide you with an initial password that you may change at any time. Continued access to the members only site is controlled by our membership database. As long as your dues are current, you will be able to access the site.

In addition to access to the members only web site, all members who have an E-Mail address listed in the membership database will also be provided with a vanity club E-Mail address. The Norwood Amateur Radio Club E-Mail server is set up to forward member E-Mail sent to their vanity E-Mail address (callsign@norwood-arc.org) to the E-Mail address listed in the membership database. It is extremely important that your "real" E-Mail address be kept up-to-date in the membership database to avoid bouncing E-Mail messages. Redirected E-Mail addresses such as amsat.org, arrl.net, and qsl.net as well as known problematic E-Mail systems such as hotmail.com, juno.com, and yahoo.com will not be accepted as the target for vanity E-Mail addresses.

Club Net:

The club conducts a weekly net on 2 meter FM and occasionaly 10 meter USB every Tuesday starting at 8:00 P.M. The first round of the net is held on the club's W1JLI Memorial repeater 147.210 (+ offset). The second round may be held on 10 meter USB at or about 28.345. In order to be able to accommodate our Novice and Technician with code class license holders, the 10 meter portion of the net is always held within the Novice portion of the 10 meter band. Net Control for the NARC nets rotates among members of the club who have expressed an interest in serving as net control. If you are interested in trying your hand as a net control station, talk to the net manager. If your license class does not permit transmitting on the HF bands, the net manager will find a secondary net control station for you to team with.

Club Repeater

On October 21, 2000, the management of the W1JLI 147.210 repeater was transferred to the Norwood Amateur Radio Club. On September 19, 2006, the club was officially granted the W1JLI call sign by the FCC, and the W1JLI Memorial Repeater was officially launched. The club would like to thank Jeff Schall, KB1AFO for allowing us to memorialize his father, Lou Schall, by entrusting us with his fathers call sign. The repeater is currently operating at the Cingular Cell site located behind the Norwood High School. The repeater antenna, provided by the Norwood Emergency Management Agency, is mounted on one of the town water tanks also located behind the Norwood High School. The repeater's coordinated frequency of 147.210 MHz runs a plus offset (receives on 147.810 MHz). There is currently no tone required to activate the repeater. The repeater is configured, and the antenna is directed to reduce interference with the Warren, Mass 147.210 repeater. Therefore, you may encounter difficulties "hitting" the repeater from Western Mass. Many members of the club can also be found on the Walpole Emergency Management Agency repeater at 146.895, and the Canton K1BFD UHF repeater at 449.425.
